Starter Bakery was born alongside its introduction of Kouign Amann to the Bay Area and beyond in 2010. It’s similar to a croissant but is made with salted butter and is layered with sugar. The pans are brushed with butter and coated in sugar before they are baked to give them their caramel crust. These are traditionally a breakfast pastry but can be enjoyed for dessert. Kouign Amann – Traditional Our Kouign Amann is made in the traditional way, rich in salted butter with notes of salted caramel. Much more than just a sweet croissant....
